• Social Media is a term that gets used extensively in today's tech conversations, but what does that mean to your organization?  Social Media can be defined as "a group of Internet-based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0, which allows the creation and exchange of user-generated content." (Andreas Kaplan and Michael Haenlein).  But let's break it up into it's parts:
     
    Social - relating to the interaction of people
     
    Media - a means of communication that reaches large numbers of people
     
    So Social Media is really just people interacting to communicate.  This communication could be constructive, critical, humorous, narrative, or otherwise, but it's all just information being shared between people.  And if your Schoolwires Website has the Social Media tools, you can use them to increase the communication between your staff, students, parents, and community.
